Post-Construction Window Cleaning in Bend, OR | Clean Glass Before the Walkthrough
Sightline cleans construction glass for builders and contractors across Bend and Central Oregon. We identify coatings before any blade touches the glass, document existing damage before we start, and work to your walkthrough date.
Why It’s Different
Why Construction Glass Is a Different Job
Stucco splatter, paint overspray, drywall dust, mortar, silicone, and label adhesive don’t come off with soap and a squeegee. They need blade work — and blade work on the wrong glass is permanent. Get it wrong and the fix is a replacement pane, a delayed walkthrough, and an argument about who pays. That’s the whole reason construction glass is worth separating from the general cleanup package.

Who Pays When Construction Glass Gets Scratched?
This is the question every builder asks — usually after it’s happened once.
Fabricating debris on tempered glass
Tempered glass is reheated and rapidly cooled. Before it goes back into the furnace, small glass particles can settle on the surface. When it heats again, those particles fuse to the glass — invisibly. A blade later dislodges them and drags them across the pane, and the result is a scratch that had nothing to do with technique.
Why the cleaner gets blamed
Because the scratch appears while the cleaner is on site. Glass manufacturers are responsible for fabricating debris, but the last trade to touch the glass takes the call. Worse, these scratches are often only visible under certain lighting — which is why they surface at the final walkthrough, in front of the client, rather than during the clean.
What the industry standard says
The National Glass Association and the International Window Cleaning Association jointly publish Glass Technical Paper FB01-00, guidance on cleaning architectural glass. Two points from it matter to any builder: a large percentage of damaged glass comes from non-glass trades working near it — leaning tools against it, splashing material onto it, cleaning it incorrectly — and the standard’s own recommendation is to use a window cleaner proficient in construction cleaning, such as an IWCA member. That’s the industry’s own answer to why glass shouldn’t just go to whoever’s already doing the final cleanup.
Our Process
What We Do Before a Blade Touches the Glass
We identify the glass first
We check glass type, look for coatings, and review manufacturer information when needed. Low-E and other coated glass is standard on Bend new builds, and NGA/IWCA guidance is clear that razor blades should never touch a coated surface. If we’re not sure a surface can take a blade, we don’t scrape it.
We document existing damage
Non-glass trades work around windows for months, and plenty of scratches arrive before we do. Recording damage before we start settles the question before anyone has to argue about it.
We use a signed glass damage waiver
Standard practice for non-routine work like this. Builders expect it — any contractor who doesn’t present one hasn’t thought about the problem.
We follow the published method
Blade use limited to affected areas only, scraping in one direction with a new blade, never back and forth — a back-and-forth motion traps particles under the blade. Worth knowing: plastic scrapers aren’t the safer option. Fabricating debris embeds into the plastic during scraping, and that scraper then scratches every window it touches afterward.
Pricing
What Does Post-Construction Window Cleaning Cost in Bend?
Most new-build final cleans run $8 to $15 per window depending on coating type, debris severity, and blade time required, with a typical 20–25 window custom home running roughly $250 to $500. Interim cleans during a longer build are priced separately and usually cost less than a single deep-scrape final clean. Commercial build-outs and tenant improvements are quoted per project. Send us the glass count and we’ll give you an exact number.

Scope
What Comes Off Construction Glass
Stucco splatter and mortar splash, paint and sealant overspray, drywall dust and joint compound, silicone and caulk residue, label and sticker adhesive, protective film and tag glue, concrete splatter, framing dust, and roofing tar.
Scheduling
Working to Your Schedule
We schedule to the walkthrough date, not to our calendar — tell us the handover and we work backward. We coordinate with the trades ahead of us, since glass cleaned before touch-up painters and finish carpenters are done just gets dirty again; we’d rather come once, at the right point in the sequence, than twice.
Tell us about lockbox codes, gate access, active trades, and any protective film still on the glass. If the site isn’t ready, we’d rather know the day before than send a crew.
Who We Serve
Builders We Work With
Custom home builders across NorthWest Crossing, Discovery West, Petrosa, Tetherow, and Pronghorn, where great room glass is often two stories and covered in splatter from three trades. General contractors on full glass packages for residential and light commercial builds. Remodels and additions, often the harder job, since new glass sits next to old glass that may already carry damage. Commercial build-outs and tenant improvements around the Old Mill District, downtown, and the 3rd Street corridor, cleaned before the tenant takes possession.
We serve Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Sunriver, Tumalo, Terrebonne, Black Butte Ranch, Eagle Crest, and Caldera Springs.
