Window Cleaning in Redmond, OR | Homes, Businesses & New Builds
Redmond gets a different kind of dirty than Bend does. Less tree cover, more open ground, and a lot more wind carrying grit off the high desert. Then the irrigation season starts on April 1 and runs to the end of October, and half the town’s sprinklers are pointed somewhere near a window.
Sightline cleans windows across Redmond for homes, businesses, and builders. Screens, tracks, and sills come with every full service, and we publish what we charge before you call.
Water Source
Redmond’s Water Is Not Bend’s Water
This matters more than people think.
Redmond’s drinking water comes entirely from groundwater, pumped from a formation of volcanic rock and porous sediment called the Deschutes Formation, recharged by snowmelt off the Cascades. Bend draws partly from surface water. Different source, different mineral content.
We are not going to tell you Redmond has hard water, because the City publishes its own water quality report and that is a better source than a window cleaner’s opinion. What we can tell you is what we see on the job.
The spotting we deal with in Redmond is almost always irrigation, not tap water. Properties outside city limits on private wells get it worst. Deschutes County has roughly 16,000 exempt domestic wells, and mineral content varies from one to the next.
If your glass has white spots on the lower third and clear glass above, that is a sprinkler pattern. We will show you which head is doing it.
Irrigation Season
The April to October Problem
Redmond runs a mandatory watering schedule. Even-numbered addresses irrigate on even days, odd on odd, no irrigation on the 31st of any month, from April 1 through October 31. See how Redmond’s watering schedule shows up on your glass →
Here is the part that shows up on your windows. Redmond water customers use around 2.6 million gallons a day between November and March. Once irrigation season starts, that jumps to roughly 16.5 million gallons a day.
Six times the water, running through the hottest, driest months, drying fast on glass in high desert sun.
That is why we tell Redmond customers to book their main clean in late spring, before the season builds up, and a second in early fall once it stops. If you only do one, make it October.
The Local Climate
Open Country Means Different Dirt
Redmond sits at just over 3,000 feet, lower and more exposed than Bend.
Less needle debris
Fewer ponderosa overhanging rooflines means gutters here usually need clearing once a year, not three or four times like Black Butte Ranch or the wooded parts of Sisters.
More wind driven grit
Open ground, gravel drives, and unpaved county roads put fine dust on glass year round. It settles into screen mesh, which is why a clean pane can still look grey from inside.
Juniper still arrives
Juniper pollen starts shedding in late February across Central Oregon and Redmond gets it the same as everywhere else.
Smoke in late summer
Same as the rest of the region.
Growth
New Builds and Handover Cleans
Redmond has been one of Oregon’s fastest growing communities for two decades, and the pipeline is not slowing. The city’s long term planning area alone earmarks room for around 8,400 more housing units.
That means a lot of construction glass. Stucco splatter, paint overspray, drywall dust, and label adhesive do not come off with a squeegee, and the wrong blade on coated glass creates a replacement rather than a clean.
We clean construction glass to NGA and IWCA methods, identify coatings before scraping anything, document existing damage before we start, and work backward from your walkthrough date. Both interim cleans during long builds and final cleans before handover.
Our Services Here
What We Do in Redmond
Home window cleaning
Inside and out, with screens removed and washed, tracks vacuumed before they get wiped, and sills cleaned. Most Redmond homes take two to four hours. Screens matter more here than in Bend, since wind-driven grit off open ground packs into the mesh and makes clean glass look grey from the inside. If you book exterior only, that covers the glass, because screens and interior tracks cannot be reached from outside. See prices and what is included →
Businesses and storefronts
Downtown along 6th Street, out toward Roberts Field, and across the airport business park. We run early morning routes so the work is done before you open. Redmond storefronts collect road dust faster than most Bend commercial glass, particularly anything facing Highway 97, so every two weeks suits more businesses here than monthly does. Month to month, no contract, and a certificate of insurance before the first visit. Commercial details →
Hard water and mineral spotting
The most requested extra we get in Redmond, and almost always sprinkler-related. We test a small patch before quoting so you find out whether the deposit lifts or the glass has etched before you pay for anything. We do removal and light restoration with fine steel wool and restoration pads. We do not do cerium oxide polishing, and we will say so rather than take money for a result we cannot deliver. Shower doors too. How the test works →
New construction
Interim cleans during long builds and final cleans timed to your walkthrough. We identify coatings before a blade touches anything, document existing damage before we start, and use a signed glass damage waiver. Job numbers and purchase orders on the invoice. With Redmond building at the pace it is, we would rather be on your schedule early than squeezed in the week of handover. Construction glass →
Vacation rentals
Redmond properties and the resort homes out at Eagle Crest. Exterior glass needs no key and nobody in the house, so it can happen on a booked week. Interior goes on a gap day. We work around your calendar and coordinate directly with your turnover cleaner rather than making you the go between. Rental scheduling →
Skylights, gutters, and solar
All three from the ground. Our water-fed poles reach around 40 feet, and nobody walks on your roof. Gutters here usually need clearing once a year rather than three or four times, since Redmond has far less needle drop than the wooded areas west of town. Solar arrays are worth doing once a year in early fall, after the dust and any wildfire ash have finished arriving. Booking any of these alongside a window clean saves a separate trip charge.
